We Want Your 'Up in Flames' Pitches
Now Accepting Pitches for 'Up in Flames' on February 27, 2025
Have you ever made a decision that just blew up your life? Maybe you were juggling 3 love affairs at once until they all found out; or maybe you made a business choice that went south and affected, not only you but, your entire staff; or maybe a decision to burn your toilet paper on a camping trip in the woods resulted in a fire that took out hundreds of acres. Hey, we’ve all been there. If you’ve ever made a choice that fell somewhere on the spectrum from questionable to complete s#!tshow, we want to hear about it at our February 27th show, Up in Flames.
* This event is a co-production between The Monti and Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University (celebrating 30 years).
Submitting your pitch
If you feel that you have a fabulous story that would be perfect for Up in Flames, send a 200-word pitch to The Monti by emailing pitch@themonti.org. One of our producers will read the pitch and respond to you promptly. There is no guarantee that we will accept your pitch. We may ask follow-up questions or make comments on what has been presented.
If we like your pitch, we will pass it along to our Executive Director, Jeff Polish. He will make the decision on whether or not you will be invited to tell a story at our February 27th show, and we will work collaboratively with you to develop your story and performance.
We will make our decisions by Tuesday, January 28th.
A good pitch is one that tells us:
- What happens in the story.
- How the character(s) change as a result of the action in the story.
- What you think the story is about.
It's ok if you don't have all the answers. If the pitch is compelling enough, we will help you to develop the structure and flow.
Send your 200-word pitch to pitch@themonti.org.
