Stan Kimer graduated from high school in Raleigh, North Carolina, and then after a decade of moving around the country, returned to the area in 1984 for good. After a 31-year career at IBM, he retired early and formed his own career development and diversity consultancy. Then at the age of 59 with no prior experience, Stan decided to pursue his dream of becoming a competitive figure skater. After starting this journey, there was no turning back. At age 67, in addition to running his own company, serving on several community non-profit boards and traveling the world, Stan competes around the country on the adult competitive figure skating circuit.
