Pilar Joyce, an American, was raised in Europe and South America and first moved to the United States to attend Wellesley College. She later earned an MBA from Duke University Fuqua School of Business, thus officially qualifying as a Captain of Industry. Her professional contributions to our collective consumer experience include architecting the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Easy-Bake Oven, launching Teletubbies in the U.S. market, and writing all the jokes for the Animal Planet toy line—because nothing says global brand strategy like punchlines about meerkats. After a respectable marketing career, she has returned to her first love: making people laugh. She performs stand-up, writes short fiction, and is the author of the story collection “I’m Not Supposed to Be Here”, inspired by her expatriate childhood, friendships and six siblings.
