Meg Van Voorhis
Former educator, curriculum writer, and aspiring adult
Meg is a Detroit native who moved down to NC from Michigan to teach elementary school after deciding that she couldn’t make it as a lounge singer. She graduated from Princeton University in 2006 with degrees in History and Spanish. She taught 6th grade in rural Honduras and moved back to the U.S. in 2009 to get her Masters in Education from the University of Michigan. After working as a dual language teacher in Carrboro, she started working with Spanish immersion programs in public schools around North Carolina. When she’s not working with teachers and schools, she’s traveling, hitting the trails, listening to records, doing karaoke and trying her best to act her age. She was recently asked by a 1st grader if she was, in fact, an adult.
