Mary Coyne Wessling
Writer and Child Advocate
Mary Coyne Wessling is a native of Cleveland, Ohio although many people mistake her for a New Yorker. She was educated in the Catholic school system but prefers people not to hold that against her. She attended a Jesuit University in the Midwest where she earned a degree in journalism. She maintained a free lance writing career for many years while living in Charlotte and Greensboro. She found her true calling in life a few years ago when she trained to be a Guardian ad Litem. After five years of volunteering with the program, she joined the staff. She works with teens in the foster care system, advocating for them and helping other volunteers do the same. While few of them truly appreciate her wit and humor, they tolerate her well and allow her to speak up on their behalf. For that, she is most grateful. Mary Coyne has been married to Terry Wessling for 26 years and has two children, 25 and 22.
