Margaret Patton Chapman
Author, editor and teacher
Margaret Patton Chapman is an author, teacher and editor. Her novella-in-flash Bell and Bargain, was published in 2014 as part of the collection My Very End of the Universe from Rose Metal Press. Her short fiction has appeared in Diagram, The Collagist, Smokelong, and the anthology The Way We Sleep, among others. Before she received her MFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, she wrote about arts, music and culture for the Independent Weekly and the Austin Chronicle. She’s taught writing as a poet-in-residence in the Chicago Public Schools, as an instructor at The Iowa Summer Writers’ Festival, and as a Visiting Professor at Indiana University South Bend. She is prose editor for decomP magazinE and assistant fiction editor for the Fairy Tale Review. And finally, after a 12-year absence, she’s living in her hometown—Durham, NC—again
