Django Haskins
Frontman for The Old Ceremony
Born in Gainesville, Florida, Django Haskins' journey has taken him to some strange corners of the world. A childhood in a family of musicians exposed him to Cole Porter, the Beatles, Dylan, Motown, Thelonius Monk, and Elvis Costello to name a few, and created in him a deep-seated love for pop music in its many forms. After graduating from Yale with a degree in Literature and Chinese, he set off for China, living in Hangzhou teaching English, and performing his songs at the local pub. There followed a long stint in Brooklyn, where he honed his skills as a songwriter and performer. Seven years, three albums, and many tours around the U.S. and Europe later, Django moved to the Triangle area in 2002, where he now leads The Old Ceremony, who currently tour the U.S. and Canada and are working on their fourth album. Django is also a rabid history buff and is working on his first book about 1890s-1920s New York City.
