Storytellers

David Rowan was born and raised in Alexandria, VA, where his parents still reside. After high school and a brief stent in college, he pursued poker as vocation which took him all over the country and abroad. He immigrated to Israel where he brought his poker career to a close and got back into education, then moved to Durham to finish his undergraduate studies. He works part-time as a Sunday school teacher and youth group advisor, and is active in the dance and volunteer communities of the Triangle. He loves teaching, and working with children. In late March 2014, his sister and her husband had their first child, making David an uncle for the first time. David was first introduced to formal storytelling at StorySLAM Tel Aviv, and has grown to really appreciate the consciousness raising that results from a good story.
