Carlos Ramirez

Educator, Mentor, Storyteller

Headshot Bwsq Carlos Ramirez

Dr. Carlos Ramirez, the son of Mexican immigrants, grew up surrounded by stories of resilience, sacrifice, and the American Dream—and he has been sharing stories ever since. A proud father of five and husband to a bestselling author, Carlos is a lifelong educator with over 30 years of experience in public schools. He earned degrees from UC Davis, Chapman University, and the University of North Texas, where he completed his Ed.D. in Educational Administration.

His career has focused on school reform, leadership development, and mentoring. In his current role as an assistant professor at ECU, Carlos continues to use storytelling to motivate staff, inspire students, and bring laughter to the classroom. He has assisted schools in states such as California, Texas, Colorado, and North Carolina, and he often shares tales from his family's journey. Carlos believes that stories connect us and remind us of what is possible.

In his free time, he enjoys reading science fiction and is an avid fisherman.
