Aaron Nelson
President/CEO, Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce
Aaron Nelson is now in his twelfth year as President and CEO of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro (NC) Chamber of Commerce and has served as the Executive Director of the Chamber's charitable economic and community development affiliate since their creation in 2004. Aaron is a Ford Foundation Fellow for Regional Sustainable Development, co-chair of the national Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy, and co-founder of the national Institute for Sustainable Development. He speaks nationally and internationally on sustainable economic development strategy and building successful businesses, organizations and communities and has served on the board directors and trustees of more than twenty local and national organizations including the UNC Chapel Hill, Durham Tech, the ArtsCenter, the Institute for Organization Management and El Centro Latino. A 1997 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Philosophy, Aaron also served as the elected Student Body President. Aaron has been a resident of the Triangle since 1982 and lives in Chapel Hill with his wife Sonja, son Maxwell Isaiah and daughter Atlee Elizabeth.
